Day 25 May 26 Thursday

Day 25 May26 Thursday - This morning we left Astorga at 7:50am for Rabanal- a 20 km walk

We are blessed again with perfect weather - absolutely clear blue skies thus maintaining our perfect record of no rain on the Camino

As we left I looked back at the Cathedral one more time - this being the second time I have toured it

Our group is shown walking out of the city in the quiet of the early morning

There is not a steeple or any tower of height that the storks have not laid claim to

The roses remain my favourite - these adorning a residence along our path

As I retrace my 2017 Camino there are many memories and this Cowboy bar is one and is showcased in the guide books - I have no reason why as the only thing cowboy is the sign

We often are graced with some poetry or other writings by earlier pilgrims and these two caught my eye

I arrived in Rabanal at 12:30 pm and instantly was brought to mind one of the most special churches - this one is of Benedictine order with the sole mission that is to serve the pilgrims. The interior is dark - virtually no windows with a round sanctuary

In 2017 I attended Vespers here but inquiring with the Priest - regretfully no - his voice would not permit. The Albergue we stayed in 2017 is adjacent to this church run strictly by volunteers - it is a very well kept / managed Albergue

The main road through town is the Camino path and the last picture shows our path out in the morning - our place of stay is right next to the last building in this town

We will be off to Pomforado in the morning with some steep hills at the start followed be a steep downhill for the remaining of the day. We will be covering 31 kms so we best be rested and hope for favourable weather

It is at this stop we will have our second rest day prior to none stop into Santiago

Till later

Buen Camino
