Day 23 May 24

Day 23 May 24

We left Leon at 8:30 am and walked for a good hour to exit the city. The last part was quite industrial. We had to watch for the left route in order to arrive at our days end destination Villar des Mazerife. If we took the wrong way we would miss our lodging. We took the right (left) turn.

Last evening at 8pm it was 21 deg and this morning it had cooled down to 4 deg and I think during our brisk walk it only warmed up to 12 deg

We skirted what looked like rain off in the distance but never reached our path

The picture of me with the tired pilgrim was taken at the Parador this morning and the second picture is looking back at the city of Leon as we left this morning. If you look closely you can see the cathedral in the back

We had a team picture taken by the pilgrim statue which is show cased in the guide book

Cyclist continue to pass us by. No issues when there is a wide path / little less appreciated on the narrow trails

After 4 hrs walking came to the towns entrance which is marked by this mural

I stayed in this town back in 2017 -  then it was day 1 and today it is day 23

All is good - many continuing to have accommodation issues and having to book further ahead and shuttle with taxis

Tomorrow we have a 30 kms stroll - basically flat for the most part

Fair weather and happy feet - we can manage

Buen Camino
