Day 13 May 14 in Burgos

Today is our first of two days of rest on the 39 day Camino - 1/3 there already

Slightly overcast but very pleasant and we are now 13 for 13 no rain

We gathered at mid morning to take in the magnificent Cathedral de Santa Maria XIII

Pictures cannot capture the beauty of this Cathedral which construction was started in 1221

The impressive interior architectural features leave one in awe at every turn

The Cathedral houses twenty-one separate Chapels all as ornate as the next one - with portraits and Rerdos’s depicting varied story- lines of Christ’ life

Interior walls have immense carvings of similar nature illustrating scenes we know so well from scripture

Of the many portraits this one of the Pentecost grabbed my attention where the twelve were in the upper room along with Mary Magdalene when they received the Holy Spirit

The last picture shows part of the plaza adjacent to the Cathedral

We are now enjoying our Spanish Siesta presently and regrouping at 4 to go to one of a few local Museum’s to learn about some of our earliest human form history

I will include in tomorrows narrative

After the museum we will attend Pilgrims mass at the Cathedral then a final five member team dinner as our fifth is heading home as originally planned tomorrow

The remaining four of us will set out on Sunday at 7 am for Hornillos de Camino - 21 km walk

Till then Buen Camino
