Day 11 May 12 Camino
Day 11 May 12 Camino
The days are moving on especially as one try’s to remember the towns we have already visited
We had heavy skies last night and our hopes and prayers were for night rain and dry paths for today- prayers answered. We are 11 for 11 with no rain. Although I carry my rain gear daily as in Spain the showers come up without much warning
We left Belorado at 7:30 am under heavy land fog which kept us cool till 11:30 when the skies cleared - making todays walk of 24 km much more relaxing
The guide book warned us of a challenging day due to that 1/2 day would be an uphill climb. I guess with the cooler temp of 21 deg and mist along with 11days in on the Camino we are getting seasoned legs and taking each day in stride
It all comes down to foot care - happy feet / happy Camino. Lots and lots of limping and some having to quit as their feet and joints have given up.
Pic 1 was from Belorado at the church - notice the windows to the left mounted into the rock face. The monks have carved out rooms within the rock to live - amazing
Pic 2 foggy start as we left our hotel this morning. It made for a very reflective day as we walked through the mist and the tree lined paths
Pic 3 shows the bridge as we are leaving town this morning. Many of these date back to medieval times
Pic 4 is the monument for the 300 lives lost as they were executed during the start of the Spanish Civil War 1936 - all because they stood for their freedom. Our Australian Camino friends informed us of this - so not to miss
Pic 5 the stone hut of sorts is the monastery ruins of Saint Felix. One comes to this clearly as a surprise
Pic 6 Dinner from last evening with our Holland Camino friends sitting at the back
Wonderful conversations and meetings are a huge part of the Camino experience. No matter who you are, where you come from or social status everyone is an equal.
Great days ahead
Till then
